Geberit

GEBERITis a Swiss group specialised and leader in sanitary installations. It was founded in 1874, when Caspar Melchior Albert Gebert opened a tinsmith's shop in Rapperswil (German-speaking Switzerland). His son Albert Emil founded their own factory thanks to his father and brother Leo and in 1905 they created the first cistern made of lead-coated wood and equipped with lead fittings. At that time, households were equipped with a number of modern bathrooms and toilets as a result of the hygienist trend.
The growth of their company is very strong, which allows Léo to develop new products, such as the bell hunting mechanism. In the 30's, despite the crisis, they innovate by abandoning metals for plastic, which is easier to clean. In 1975, with the fourth generation at the head of the company, the first flush toilet is launched, which will be a success in Japan.
The company ceased to be a family business in 1997, but this enabled GEBERITto exceed a turnover of one billion Swiss francs. It diversifies into support frames and toilet mechanisms and remains a reference in this field, supplying the Louvre Museum in Lens and the stadiums of the London Olympic Games.
